Mental well-being
- Explain what mental health and mental disease are.
Mental health includes an individual’s psychological, emotional, and social well-being. It is the state in which an individual can perform efficiently, identify their abilities, and manage daily stressors. The hallmarks of mental illness are conditions that negatively affect a person’s mood, behavior, and thought processes, ultimately affecting their capacity to make rational decisions. - Tell us something you didn’t know or would like to learn more about regarding mental health.
What defines positive and negative stress is beyond me. I’d like to know how the two are different from each other and what standards were used to evaluate that difference.
- Explain therapeutic communication and name two methods you were unaware of.
Therapeutic communication is the term for the in-person interaction between a physician and patient that helps the patient achieve better physical and emotional health.
I’ll talk about these two approaches:
i) It is hard to believe that silent conversation is possible. When there is silence, the patient and the doctor can both reflect on what has been said and try to think of what to say next.
ii) Offering oneself for hire. This requires giving up personal time in order to spend time with a patient. The gesture makes patients feel more valued and comfortable around their caregivers. Therapy Communication and Mental Health.
4. What are the objectives of a therapeutic alliance between a nurse and patient?
Cultivating mutual respect and trust. After gaining people’s respect and trust, the doctor nurtures hope and faith. The following stage is to provide the patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in order to assist their behavioral transformation. The article’s response adheres to the guidelines for talking about mental health and therapeutic communication.
- Could you explain what transference and counter-transference mean?
Transference is the ability of the patient to direct their feelings toward the therapist rather than toward another person. The patient will then perceive the therapist as assuming the role of a significant person in their lives.
Counter transference occurs when a therapist believes that a patient has impacted them in some way. The patient will then receive treatment from the therapist that is inappropriate for them. It is the nurse’s emotional bond with the patient. Therapy Communication and Mental Health.
- Do you concur that minor inconveniences each day affect your stress levels more than significant life events? Give an explanation for your response.
Daily inconveniences greatly increase our stress levels since they lead to cumulative stress levels. Daily annoyances are not planned, but major events are. They occur despite our desire and without prior notice. While major events might be unpleasant, managing the source of stress is simpler than managing daily issues.
- Define coping processes. Consider the constructive and harmful coping methods you employ, and give an example of each.
Coping mechanisms are strategies people employ to manage stress, trauma, and/or difficult and upsetting feelings.
Constructive coping mechanisms are helpful positive stress management techniques. For example, planning and organizing, seeking help, engaging in meditation, and assessing the situation. Therapy Communication and Mental Health.
Negative coping mechanisms that provide a band-aid solution are known as destructive coping techniques. These are addictive and unhealthy habits. Misuse of drugs and substances, for example.
